Passion Project

I wanted to make a typeface based on the logo of the company my wife worked for.

Year: 2022

But why?

My wife was in the middle of rebranding her company, and I was feeling like I needed a challenge. As a thank you for an act of kindness the company paid us, I decided to see if I could make a halfway decent display typeface for their PPTs and limited use on the new website.

How I did it

Using the Fontself plugin for Illustrator, I got to work. Starting with the logo, I created a rough first version of the 900 weight. All the letter forms were made from straight vertical, horizontal and 45 degree strokes. Since the letterforms were strokes, it was easy to reduce the size for the 600 and 300 weight version. The main challenge was keeping character in the fonts, without it looking Cyrillic.
